scope or peep
« on: February 24, 2010, 07:34:55 AM »
I have a horton Yukon SL and banged the peep sight off on a very cold morning in Wi. tried glue and tape well that's just not working. Should I order a new peep or go with a scope?? If I got a scope I would want one that gave me yardage incriments, or do I have to go back to my pins and peep? What you guy's say?
                                              Thanks Fireman.

Well Fireman, I hope someone with a bit more crossbow experience than me pipes up. I'd also like to hear/read some feedback on this issue.

I put an Eastman red dot on mine and it's got 4 verticle dots, which for my Yukon works out to 5yd incriments.  I sighted the top dot for 20yds and the 2nd centers at 25yds out to 35yds, which I consider my practical limit for deer.  I've had it for 3 seasons and dropped it a few times and it still seems to hold to mark when tested before hunting season, haven't gotten a deer yet, but it has taken rabbit and a racoon.

On my Yukon, to mount a scope, you'd need to buy a special scope rail that replaces the rear sight. I think it was around $30 online. Might want to check it out at Hortons site.

Call Wyvern Creations 603 659 0575 ask him about a Hawke scope for your bow
very reasonable on the price and about the best scope for a crossbow there is.

I have a Verizone from Excalibur and really like it.  I would also ck with Danny Miller (see above info) and let him set you up.  I have rarely had service like he provides.  He is one of a kind.
