« on: July 13, 2009, 11:48:16 AM »
I just got an email notice on the new Mueller 3-9x40 Hybrid scope with 4¼" eye relief, looks to be very Handi friendly with a small power ring and ocular bell, I'll post pics of mine mounted when I get it!!  ;D

Wow that kinda looks like what I've been trying to talk Rich into adding to the line ever since he first became a sponsor here. I told him I was sure that if he'd offer a normal size 2-7 or 3-9 it would sell.

Thats a damn good looking scope, and am proud of Mueller! Give Weaver a run for their money (not to mention the others ;D).
I am still looking forward to the side focus long range offering they have been working on for the last bit.

I agree Bill, Rich's 2-7x32 IR would be a great platform for a non-illuminated version too.

Aaron, I got the note below along with the 3-9x40 alert, be sure to sign up for their special purchase offers and email news.  ;)

intresting it would work on a couple of old bolt actions i have that always put the scope too far forward. Real intrested in the new side focus.

Thanks for the heads up Tim. I have a couple of Mueller scopes and love them. I may have to get one of these for the .223 I am looking at.

that looks like just the ticket for my 357!  I have a Bushnell wideview 1.5-4.5 in high mounts and it barely clears the hammer.  Hows the clarity out to 200yds?  The reticle in my Bushy get's a little fuzzy at 100.

Dunno yet, I just ordered it yesterday, it'll be here Monday, I'll post a report in the Optics forum, I expect it will be just as good as the 6 other Muellers I own which are great optics.  ;)

Thanks for the post Tim.  I'm shopping now for a scope for my 357 Handi.  I don't like the extra high rings, and was thinking of shortening the stock so I wouldn't have to stretch to get the eye relief right.  This looks like it might solve both situations!

Is the long range scope going to be a 30mm or 1' tube?
I am definately getting one of these 3-9's though.

Got the scope today, mounted it on one of the few unadulterated frames I have, in medium Leupold Rifleman rings, with a little hammer spur trimming above the extension, the scope could be mounted in low rings with judicial positioning. Eye relief is generous and consistent through the entire power range, view is bright and clear, every bit as good if not better than a Leupold VX1, eye box isn't quite as large or forgiving as the VX1, but not critical either.
