Question about imprinted ammo
« on: May 18, 2009, 04:20:36 AM »
I got an email from a fellow bullseye shooter who is alarmed about a bill to require that all ammo be imprinted. This would effectively make ammunition too expensive to use. It applies to reloaded ammo too.

What's this about.

There is a reference to it on the NRA ILA site, but it doesn't seem like the hottest issue right now.

My personal opinion; the technology doesn't exist even though it may sound nice to some politicians and basically it'll never happen.  I'm not going to worry about it.  If it does anything it'll just raise the prices of ammo & reloading supplies during a big surge like the one we're in now.

We had a lot of discussion about it here a year or more ago. The fellow who claimed to be the one who invented the technology even registered here and tried to convince us all how cheaply it could be done and how great it would be for us. No one bought his BS tho.

What do you think would happen if this became law?would you all give up reloading as it would be against the law?how about the reinactors firing the old bullets that are not for sale, they cast most of thier ammo.We who cast are own bullets have been under attack for years with a ban on wheelweights,a ban on hunting with lead ammo etc.

You all might start casting your own all copper bullets like Barnes.  Just kidding.  The only place I've heard of that's actually banned lead bullets is California.

The problem is more and more states are banning wheelweights, the only cheap way to cast.
