I've been wanting a 45-70 barrel ever since I got my .223 ultra. I first considered sending it off but I've decided against it. With some of the horror stories I've heard about sending them in, plus the fact that, even with a perfect trip to and from Remington, I'll still have to be without my .223 for awhile, I just don't want to do it. I considered getting a whole new gun but I really don't want to pay for that since I don't really "need" a 45-70. After I spent a lot of time blankly staring at the barrel fitting sections of the FAQ, I've finally convinced myself that I can do it. I'm usually pretty handy with stuff. Fixing a tight barrel seems easy and I still think I could handle a loose one. Worst case scenario a few of my welding buddies could probably figure it out with me. I like having a project to work on anyways. Maybe it'd be fun?
I need to think on it a few days before I start the process of finding one but this is where my mind is now. Does my reasoning seem to make sense to you guys? Any comments are appreciated.
