Twist rates depend on what weight bullet you want to shoot. The 225 Win was considered a varmint round, so they made the twist rates slower for the lighter bullets. You can still shoot light bullets with a faster twist barrel. Pressures may be up a little and accuracy may not be as good as a slower twist barrel, but only MAY. You would need to try it to find out for sure. On the other hand you should be able to stabilize heavier VLD type bullets in the 65 - 70 grain area. The higher the BC they less the wind effects the bullet, but you get more arc in your shot - not as flat shooting as a faster lighter bullet. The popular thing is to go with a faster twist and a heavier bullet. I guess i buck the popular thing and go with a slower twist and lighter bullets. I just built a 223 with a short throat and 1-14" twist especially for 40 grain boat tailed bullets. Go ahead and chamber that 223 to 225, you will get higher velocity and who knows you may even get better accuracy, even with lighter bullets and if you want to shoot the heavy stuff, you are in the 22-250 range with it, only with a faster twist barrel. Good Luck and Good Shooting
