Handi neck sizing
« on: May 02, 2009, 09:56:52 AM »
While neck sizing on a Handi does not work too well, I find that on cast boolet loads, neck sizing works great due to the lower pressure. Comments? suggestions?

If you look at Fred's web page he recommends not neck sizing.

Yep, alot of the "rules" don't aply for cast bullets.  I usually full length resize any brass that hasn't been used with cast first, then usually home free.

I had much better results with cast in 30-06 by running the neck up on the deprimer stem of a .303 brit neck size die (just the first 3/4" into the die, you know).  Guess it would be mostly like using a Lyman "M" die to expand the diameter a little more - the regular RCBS just crushes it down too much for cast.  May just have to break down and buy some "M" dies.

Iv'e been using a 7.65 argie sizer, Same dianeter as your 303 pretty much. I can use that $14,00 I didn't spend on the m die on something else,

If you buy the Lyman "M" die, buy the 30 caliber long. It is adjustable for all 30 cal. I use the same die for 30-30, 30 Rem.,  .308, & 30-06.
Well worth the money spent. ;)
