Need help with a G2 frame
« on: April 13, 2009, 12:25:54 PM »
I just traded for a G2 frame and the hammer will not cock. I tried different bbl combos and also without a bbl installed. It will go about 1/4 way back and no further.
Any ideas??

THANKS

Try removing the bolt thru the grip and see if it will cock with it removed if so you might need another washer or two on the grip to frame bolt.

OK I removed the stock and it will cock if you slam it shut really hard.
I put the stock back on with out the bolt and it will not cock no matter hard you close the action.
More ideas???

THANKS

I'd be tempted to take advantage of TC's lifetime warranty, and let them figure it out.

IIRC, one of the new safety features that was added to the G2 was that it wouldn't fire (or cock and fire?) unless the barrel was properly seated to the frame.
This is almost for sure an issue with either that feature being too sensitive, or more likely, with the barrel being a bit off to where it's not seating properly unless slammed shut.

I would personally go no further with it other than to send it off to T/C.

I would agree. Sounds like locking bolts are not quite right for the barrels you are trying to use. Not a difficult problem to fix. Over the years there have been a few different style bolts. Call TC...no doubt they will want you to send them the gun and barrels. I have a collection of bolts so I just do my own.

Common problem, probably just needs a little polishing with a hard stone and a little oil.  I've bought several barrels that just wouldn't quite "snap shut".  Just stone the sides and bottoms of the locking lugs, just start shining them up a bit.  Clean them good and test, if it won't click shut, polish a bit more.....
