New to me 30-30

I recently traded with one of the members here for a 30-30 handi. I own other handi's in 223 and 45-70 which are good shooters, but the 30-30 is just plain FUN!
I mounted a Burris 2 3/4x scope and within a few minutes was ringing a 6" steel plate at 150yds shooting factory loads. It just doesn't get much better than that. Low recoil, great accuracy, and an inexpensive rifle makes for a great combination. Can't wait to put it on paper to see just how good it will do.

You might be surprised how good that thing will shoot with factory ammo.
30-30's are usually one of the best shooting Handi's out there.

I just last weekend finished my 30-30 project. I restocked it with Timber Camo Manliker Forend and a Boyds Thumbhole Stock. I put a Tasco Wold Class 4 X 16 Mil Dot scope on it and took it to the range. At 100 yards with factory ammo it grouped just above 1/2" groups. I thought it was doing so good that I decided to try out how the Mill Dot worked. I put a target at 200 yards and I twice shot a 1 1/2" 4 shot group. Couldn't be more pleased.

I agree, it's just plain fun to shoot. I reload for mine and can get 3 shot groups touching @100yds. I orignally bought the barrel for my daughter to use deer hunting, but I find myself shooting it the most.
