W&H and H&R barrel interchanging
« on: March 03, 2009, 03:46:57 AM »
I have an opportunity to buy a barrel from a Wesson and Harrington 38-55.  I would like to put this barrel on my H&R CR-45LC frame.  I know it is common practice to interchange barrels on H&R Handi's etc from H&R to H&R but does anybody know if barrels will interchange from W&H to H&R without major modification or if they can be interchanged at all?

Thanks for the reply Troy.

Now I guess the other issue is that I'd need to find a forestock for the 38-55 barrel.  I can't use the barrel without the forestock.  I suppose a BC forestock would work but I don't know if I could buy one from H&R or not.  It's not listed on their web-site for spare parts.

The BC and Target use the same forend, part numbers are in the FAQs on the retail parts price list page, not the price list itself.

Thanks Tim, I'll check into it.  Maybe I'll buy that barrel after all.

Thanks again, Tim and Troy.  My friend, "Dead Eye" Wayne in Florida has a W&H .45-70.  I think he'll be happy to know he can put other barrels on it.  You guys are better than a Grandmother.  If I wasn't married, and bigamy was allowed, I'd marry both of you.  Patty'd probably object though :o
