Question for Super Blackhawk gurus
« on: February 14, 2009, 05:15:37 AM »
Has Ruger ever made the Super Blackhawk with the Blackhawk grip frame instead of the square back or dragoon style trigger guard and grip frame? I ran across a 4 5/8" barreled one with the Blackhawk style grip frame in a gunshop the other day that was used and the salesperson stated that the grip frame had not been changed. It was in good shape and priced right. I would have bought it except for the round guard. I just can't take the beating they give my finger.

Yes, the shorter barrels have the round trigger guard. Here's mine.

Thanks. I haven't kept up with the Super Blackhawk for several years.

Ruger has made both 4 5/8" and 5 1/2" blued and stainless SBH's with the smaller Blackhawk grip frame. Of course, there were also the 7 1/2" SBH Hunters which were available with a SBH size gripframe, except with a rounded trigger guard profile.
Like you, I also find either the Dragoon or round profile SBH gripframes much more comfortable than the BH size gripframes.
