Naval Cannons on Treasurequest on the Discovery Channel
« on: January 29, 2009, 05:04:35 PM »
Has anyone been watching this? They've shown a number of cannon on sunken wrecks plus brought up a few few to ID a certain wreck. Tonite one of the machinists jury rigged a jig to measure bore size on a sunken cannon via a remote controlled vessel. Treasurequest  is a new series that started a couple of weeks ago. Thurs nite at 9:00 PM EST

Missed it for tonight, gotta check it out for next week! Sounds like Mel Fisher type underwater searches for ships by locating the cannons first. BoomLover

They seem to repeat this same episode over and over.

Here they show the new episode at 9 pm followed by last weeks at 10. It kindo threw me when I watched it a second time. Ya have to check the tv guide. The jig worked and they found a 7 inch bore. next week they bring it up for ID purposes

The crew on this channel came across the wreck of the HMS victory, the Foreunner to Admiral Nelson's HMS Victory while looking for the ship they are trying to locate. They brought two brass cannon to the surface to ID the wreck. Dont know if these episodes are going to be included on this seasons show or not. The HMS Victory had alot of Gold on it though. They are in negotiations with the british government at this time regarding the wreck

Excellent episode tonite. It is the victory on this years season after all. We are lucky enough to be seeing footage thats only a few weeks old. That 42 pounder is going to look nice in a museum
