Reassembling barrel to frame/receiver
« on: February 03, 2009, 09:50:38 AM »
I looked in the handi basics and FAQ threads, and didn't find instructions on reassembling barrel to frame. I'm a dummy when it comes to these rifles, and since this is my first one, I was surprised to receive a .270 Handi in a purchase, that was dissassembled for shipping. Can someone help me with this? Thanks.

I hate to say it pal, but someone saw you coming...  :(  The rifle is obviously broken in half and beyond repair.   :( :(  Tell ya what, I can probably salvage a few parts out of it.  I'll take it off your hands for... say... $50.    ::)  Shipped to my FFL of course!   ;D

You know I'm kidding, right?   :P

Take the fore end off the barrel.  One screw on the bottom.
Look at the bottom of the barrel at the chamber end.  there's a rectangular piece of metal there.  the front of that metal, the part toward the muzzle, has a half moon shaped cutout in it.
Now look at the front of the receiver from the top down.  At the very front you will see a pin running the width of the receiver.  the half moon fits against the backside of that pin.  Then close the action!

But just leave it in 2 pieces and ship it to me!   :D

bearmgc, I recommend you read the Handi basics 101 sticky, there are some tips there that you should be aware of before you head to the range that will likely improve your experience.  ;)
