« on: February 07, 2009, 04:54:26 PM »
I have a26" encore and am having trouble finding a good load for it, any thoughts would be appreciated. ie. what bullet weight does yours like and some loads recommendations would be nice.

h4831 and hornady 120hps give me 3040fps and .75" groups. also h4350 and nosler 110ab give me 3225fps and .75-1.0" groups.

It would be helpful if the OP told us what didn't work for him.  No point in us wasting bandwidth by recommending something that has already proven to be a failure....

Thanks for the replies guys it gives me some new loads to try. One question though; most of you are talking about 3/4 to 1" groups is this what I should expect from an Encore? this is my first one and I bought it because I heard they were "tack Drivers", I was hoping for something under 1\2" with hand loads off a good bench. is this unreasonable to expect for C-T-C 3 shot groups at 100Yrd? I am hoping for some long range potential on antelope and coyotes. I am really not trying to be an ass I just dont know what to expect. I dont even know any other encore shooters personally.

Actually, the best group I've ever shot was with my T/C Encore in 25/06; it measured a little less than 0.15 inches center to center for 3 shots at 100 yards but it won't do that every time.  I would say wth meticulous attention to handloading technique, consistent 3 shot groups at or a bit less than 0.5 inches should be doable.

i've gotten better than .75-1", but that is the norm for me. i've gotten some groups under 1/2" and some over an 1", .75-1" is just my average. i'm sure there are other loads out there, but i tried the ones that i use in my ruger 77 25/06 and they worked good enough for me. the encore has a lot of potential.

Strange that you asked this question because it came up in a conversation this past weekend.  Several members of my deer club have 25-06 rifles and we each discovered that our rifles do not group as well with 120 grain bullets as they do with 100 grain.  I have no experiece with lighter bullets.  Mine is deadly with 100 grains.  Really likes Nosler BT, though I do not.
