Hey guys, do any of you have any sugestions on what i could use for a bottom end anchor on a drowner in a sandy river? The sand is generally 18-24" deep with rocks underneath it. Rebar won't work, tried a bullet type disposable stake it wouldn't hold, i don't really want to carry in weights, any ideas? Thanks for the help. Corey

You could try sand bags. They work great in places where nothing can be drove into the bottom. Just carry them in empty and fill with sand Attach your wire and toss them out. Tighten the wire from the top side and your on your way. clint

I don't like to carry weight around either, but 2 RR tie plates in that amount of sand work like a charm. I haul mine prior to season and leave em in the good locations year round.

Aww, come on Rob, you gotta toughin up and carry them weights around...good for ya...but at the same time i guess we should smartin up and leave...i guess they do get pretty heavy when there's about five feet of snow eh...lol...see ya round.

A lot of guys including myself use nylon mesh feed sacks. Just like the sand bags but a little bigger. Just fill'em up when ya get there.

I use pieces of oak lathe ( 1 1/2" x 5/8") 2' long drill a hole in the middle and attach my wire there. Then push it into the sandy bottom at a 45 degree angle away from the bank, then pull the wire towards the bank and work it slowly through the sand. This makes it so your pulling against the whole side of the stake and holds well, it does help if you get the wire fairly tight.....B.....
