Dented Brass
« on: January 23, 2009, 02:35:15 PM »
I bought a bunch of fired 7.62-39 brass and have a question
about the dents in it.
I would guess it is for being ejected from a semi auto
but when should I become concerned about the dents?
Thanks,
Mike

not a problem. the ones that are too big to be fixed will not run through your die properly and you will know and be able to throw them out. the ones with little dents will either fix themselves in the dies or they will be fireformed when you shoot them the first time. i have had brass with small dents and dings and when i eject them after firing those are "Steamed out" by being expanded against the chamber wall.

unless you're talking about big creases or cracks or splits you're good to go. if you're worried still, post a pic of a few of them for us.

I have it on good authority that the telepromter is writing a stern letter.

FL size the brass and load it. When you fire it the dents will all go away.  ;D
