@@ Hornet frame question
« on: January 16, 2009, 02:45:20 AM »
One of my local gun shops has a used Handi Rifle in 22 Hornet that I'm thinking about buying. My question is can barrels chambered in all other calibers be fitted to this frame? I read on H&R's web site that some calibers can't be fitted to certain frames. Can anyone elaborate on this for me? Also, approximately how long does it take to have a new barrel fitted?                  Thanks, Mike

It depends on the year of manufacture. You will have to get the first two numbers on the frame and find out when it was built.

Please look at the FAQ section for lot's of info.

Barrel fitting is fairly easy to do, whether you or a gunsmith do it. If you send in the factory for a barrel the wait depends on several factors. If a barrel is in stock the turnaround time may be fairly fast but if barrels are not available at the time, the wait could be months. :-\

That's cuz it's a pre-'99 SB2 frame, it can't be fitted with any high pressure rifle barrel, all of those marked with an * on the accessory barrel page are high pressure.

Any barrel except the 10ga shotgun, 12ga Ultra Slug and rimfires.
