Could someone tell me what would need to be done to convert my .25-06 to 6.5-06? Also, if converted to 6.5-06 should the 1 in 10 twist provide decent accuracy for deer hunting?

I asked my smith about that, he said he didn't think there's enough difference between the .257" bore and a .264" bore to clean up all of the old rifling. It would be $300 mistake if it doesn't and not worth the risk when a stub can be had for the same money plus the donor parts.

I would have to agree with Quick. The bore before rifling is some where around .256 for the 6.5 And you are already at at least .257 With the 25-06.
