Barrel washers
« on: January 24, 2009, 03:29:39 AM »
Okay I just picked up my second Handi wood stock and heavy barrel 204.I am going to use neoprene washer trick on fore end my question is do i need to sand to whole fore end from front to back or just in front of the screw? And also should i trim the washer to fit in the slot in the wood, are just allow it to press between the fore end  and the barrel?
cwlongshot talked about it in a help sticky but he didn't say if he trimmed or not trimmed

I will try this again, my first in depth response disappearred.

I suggest shooting the gun as is before you go changing anything. Not all guns need the o-ring trick. Some guns shoot better without it. Unless the forearm is putting uneven pressure on the barrel, in whichever setup you are using, either with or without the o-ring, you should not have to sand the barrel channel in the forearm. Remember, KISS, and only change one variable (thing) at a time when you are checking and setting up your gun for accuracy so you will know what works and what does not...best of luck....<><....:)
