A little hope at last,... maybe, my long lost Handi
« on: January 12, 2009, 04:35:51 AM »
Those of you may might still remember the saga of the Handi I sent in on June 16, 2008 to be fitted with a 357 barrel:

A guy from Remington H&R called me around Dec 1, telling me they had found the rifle (after they admitted they couldn't find it) and were going to ship it to me, ...

BUT, since the old factory had completely closed, they had to ship it from the new factory, which means, they have to send it back to an FFL and that I would need to send the FFL information to them.

Well since I had just put my wife in the hospital that afternoon and she was in the hospital for 5 days, I didn't fax the FFL info until Dec 16.

I've been calling my FFL weekly waiting for the rifle.

Friday I called Remington and talked to a guy named Daniel. They didn't have the FFL on file, so it hasn't shipped yet.

 >:(

On the flip side, I re-faxed the information to Daniel. He called me back and said he would take care of the FFL info right away and he was going to try and get it sent next day or 2nd day air.

He was very apologetic and said they don't conduct business that way and that I had been more than patient. He is also refunding the cost of the barrel I ordered since the whole ordeal had taken so long.

I appreciated the apology finally. I felt a little better getting a sympathetic ear. I am/was a big time Remington supporter. He said the rifle should come in this week, so until I get my rifle in hand, I'm still holding my final answer on this, but at last, there is some hope.

Still a lot of hassle even for a free bbl but hopefully it will ease your sting some. Glad to see they are at least trying to make it right. Hope your saga ends soon. Kurt

I haven't been keeping up on the accessory barrel stuff as done by Remington, but am I correct in concluding that if I send a frame into them for an accessory barrel, when it is done, they require it be sent to an FFL rather than just send it back to me..?

No, they return it to you, those that had to be returned to an FFL were after Gardner was abandoned, and Ilion could return them thru Gardner no longer. Gardner was partially staffed from the end of June until sometime in September or October, so all frames that were originally sent to Gardner by customers that were forwarded on to Ilion had to be returned to Gardner and then returned to customers as required by FFL regs, when there was no one left at Gardner, they had to be returned to an FFL for transfer back to the customer.  :-\

Thanks guys, my wife went back to work today, hopefully things will get back to normal soon. I'll check my local dealer on Wednesday to see if they have the rifle.
