Which sausage stuffer to buy?
« on: January 17, 2009, 01:28:49 PM »
I am looking at buying a vertical sausage stuffer, maybe a 20-30 pound model give or take a bit in size.  I immediately started looking at the Cabelas commercial models, but it looked like there were a fair number of people that are unhappy with them (which seems to be becoming more and more common with Cabelas products).  The most common two complaints were 1) gears stripping, 2) 2 or 3 pounds of meat left in the bottom that won't push through due to the shape of the plunger.

I really don't even know where to start looking (and maybe the Cabelas models are fine - some folks are impossible to satisfy I realize...).  But, I hate to buy something that I haven't done alot of checking on in advance.  We do a couple/few hundred pounds of sausage each year.  We have been using a commercial grinder and have been stuffing straight from it.  We used a vertical stuffer once and are set on trying to get one of these to use since it is much easier and faster.

Do ya'll have any recommendations on which brand/models to look at?

Thank you for your help.
