I don't read a lot anymore but have an old book that I read years ago that somehow made it thru a house fire 5 yrs ago. "Hunter" x John Hunter. About his life as an African PH when Africa was still really wild. Started last night and about half way thru now, super book! In it he speaks of elephants with 150# tusks. Of Lions comming out of his ears and of the lions at Tsavo. Harper Bros copyright 1952.

Picked up a copy myself.  Got it super cheap at a discount book store.  One of those ones with stacks of books that won't sell anywhere else.  Good read.

I own it too. Those old PHs and Ivory hunters sure were tough!  If you are interseted, Peter Capsticks books are great, too, and he revived some old ones Like the one on John "Pondoro" Taylor.

I have that book;it's great reading.
I just bought another book at a gunshow."Pondoro" by John Taylor.
It is just as good reading.
Taylor came to Africa a little later then Hunter.
Hunter was born around 1887,and Taylor,in 1904.
Both men were outstading individuals, but different in many ways.Hunter did a lot of Game Management;Taylor was primarily a poacher.
