OT kinda, My son's Mountain Lion hunt [pics]
« on: January 07, 2009, 12:52:25 AM »
Hope Quick don't care, but thought you boys would enjoy this.  Some of you remember the post/pics about my son's trip to South Africa, and the game he shot with the handi rifle.  Well, in Nov. my son planned a Mountai Lion hunt, for January, in AZ. to coincide with him working a bowl game, in Phoenix over New Years.  Originally, he was going to take his .44 mag. handi rifle, to use for the hunt.  However, because of his work schedule for the network broadcasting the bowl game, he decided to leave his gun at home, and borrow one from the guide.  He was going to use a leveraction .30-30, but because of the rough terrain, he borrowed the guide's handgun.  Now Dan has never shot a handgun before, but his 1st shot dropped this big tom.  They hunted within a few miles of the Grand Canyon.  Hope you enjoy the pics.

The cat was estimated to weigh 155 lbs., and the guide thought  it might make the record book.  I'll know more when he gets home tommorrow.  I sure am proud of that kid! ;D ;D

Nice cat!
Congrats to your son.

I think I would have wanted to at least have shot the handgun first before venturing out on a hunt for an animal that may/could eat me!
