357 MAX
« on: January 07, 2009, 07:26:26 AM »
I've been thinking about reaming my 357 to 357 max.  Mike Bellam's website warns that some 357 max reamers cut a long throat.  This would be similiar to the long throats in the standard 357 mag chambers. I contacted 4-D and they said that their reamers have a removable pilot to allow the reamer to be used on a rifle barrel or the cylinder of a pistol.  I'd like to hear from anyone that has used the 4-D reamer.  Can you seat the bullets at the crimp groove and still be close to the rifling or do you have to seat them long?

Well mine is factory chambered, but I will point out that this caliber is shooting short bullets. Its powder cap doesn't really lend it to bullets of much more than 200Gr's. IMHO 180Gr's is a better maximum. Seating them with a minimum of 1/4" in the case doesn't touch the rifeling on mine. Accuracy is great.

I can't get anywhere near the lands with mine and it shoots great, I don't even try in most of my handie rifles. It really dosn't seem to make any diffrence anyway.
