What is bone black? How and what is it used for when refinishing a rifle stock?

Here you go go McKie:
http://www.midwayusa.com/Eproductpage.Exe/showproduct?saleitemid=326899
The ad says it can do this:
1. be used as a filler before the final finish by filling the pores in the wood
2. it enriches the grain pattern of the wood by defining the grains direction and adding contrast
3. it can be used as a coloring agent for epoxy-bedding materials
4. it can be used to repair or replace inlays of ebony or hard rubber on vintage firearms.
