300 H&H in a Stevens 200?
« on: January 03, 2009, 04:38:10 AM »
Is it doable and if so how difficult to change a Stevens 200 in 300 Win to a 300 H&H?  Could this be the way to an affordable 300 H&H?

$320 a phone call to shilen, a wrench and a headspace gauge is all it would take, although the mag  length may be a bit tight. But why? 300wm or even 30-06 can match and or outperform 300H&H by a wide margin

Of course I'm calling he kettle black here as I have a 7.62x39 benchrest Stevens200 and thinking bout ordering a 30-30 barrel for another

thanks,

As for why, I think you have answered your question.  Besides, I already have four 30-06s and don't care for short mags.

again thanks and I will be courious how the 30-30 turns out.
