I am settled in here nice and comforatable with good coffee and all but now must retire to the garage to see if my generator will run. I take good care of it and always run the fuel out so it should be ok.
What I do is to flip the disconnect out at the meter then slap a lock on it (keeps those Ameron-IP guys happy) then back feed the generators output from both legs of the 100amp box in the garage to the 200amp
Box that is in my basement. The 5,000 watt output of the generator does just fine being suffiecient to run even the more suseptible items like this puter as I dont see any current lag when turning various household
Items on or off.

It sounds like you are all set.  A generator is on my "To Get" list.  So far we have only lost power for 12 hours at the most in the last 20 years plus.  But for the money, I think I might use a snow blower more often.

I bought an old, small snow blower while working at Caterpillar, from a fellow worker. Haven't use the snow shovel since! Still, I think I need a generator for times like now?
