Ny new 204,but what do i have
« on: November 12, 2008, 08:52:01 PM »
I just got another H&R,i ordered a Handi rifle in .204,but i'm not sure what i have.
On the end of the box it says 204,  24" barrel, Blue,Wood.I thought the only came in 22"
barrel or 24 Fluted. This barrel is not fluted??,the receiver says Ultra 204.The year code is HY.
I will try and get a pic up later.

Congrats, looking forward to pics and a range report!!  ;) Here's some performance data for different 204 barrel lengths starting at 24" and shorter.

I have one just like it.  I was puzzled when I got mine too.  Had it about six months.  I went to get a 22 inch barrel but they were out so the sold me the ultra for $219.  Mine shoots fine.  Plan to try it on some yotes as soon as deer season is over.

H&R1871 has made several firearms that have never been listed on the website or in the catalog, I have a .270 with a 24" fluted barrel, it was produced in a 2007 combo along with a 22" .444 barrel and camo wood stock, it was distributed by Davidson's.

Thanks for the reply's,i was just a bit puzzled with this.I will be taking it out for some Coyotes
as soon i get it sighted in with the scope.

These Handi's are getting to be a bit addictive!!,i now own a 17 HMR sportster,204 Ultra,223 Ultra and last but not least a .500 S&W.I think there will be a few more added in the future.

I love this site...............always tons of info................now back outside to move more snow!!

So perhaps a distributor had the foresight to order their .204 Handis with 24" barrels?
That's a fair bit of powder for a .20 cal bore, I bet it makes good use of those extra two inches.
