Gun Safes
« on: October 30, 2008, 05:26:37 PM »
What kind do you own and how many can you get in it? More and more breakins in our small community! Pictures would be greatly appreciated. I waited a long time but, finally bought one. Cost was close to $2,000 and not a lot of room or guns in there. Not what I expected. It's a Champion/Triumph series. Oh well, I guess it's better than it was with guns all over our bedroom walls and floor? At least now, they're all in the same spot.

I have never seen pistols hung like that.  Is that a commercial hanger or something you devised?

Just a S shaped wire hook that I got from the dealer who sold me the safe, not my design. Just slide it up the muzzle.

d_hiker, there was a guy selling safes with the pistol hanging rods you asked about, at the East Peoria gun show this last weekend.

Best handgun rack hint I've seen is a cheap $4.00 dish rack from Walmart that you can fit right on the shelf in the vault and rack up the handguns neatly. ;)

You've got to be kidding, have you looked at the one shelf in my safe? Do you own a safe? What brand? Pictures of your safe with your suggested pistol rack would be appreciated.

At the moment I cannot remember what web forum I saw this. The picture display was showing the shelf itself that had the rack on it, not suspended as your pistols are.

Wouldn't work with my safe, not enough head space for a dish rack to fit/

Here's mine, an old Mosler.  Its over 60 years old (was told it was made in 20's or 30').  I pulled the shelves out and put rifle racks and shelves for pistols in it.  Best part, its tool rated and it was free.

I picked up a small (400lb) fire rated safe for free as well.  Also bought a large vault out of a jewelry store very cheap.  It is sitting in my barn unused because it weighs approx 3500lb.  I occasionally see deals like this, usually they go cheap or free because people don't want to move them.
