New 223 Handi (Pic added)
« on: October 21, 2008, 12:06:52 PM »
Been looking for a new Handi for my 1 year old son.  Was in the S.W. yesterday and they were on sale.  $199.97.  Picked up a .223.  Now I need to send it back and get a 7mm-08 barrel fitted.  So, in 5 or 6 years he will get to shoot it.

I'm trying to break him in right.

Why did you wait so long? you could be putting him at a serious disadvantage by your procrastination.  ;D

Now you know, as a GOOD dad,  ;) you need to make sure the
gun shoots and functions under every possible condition.

So, it's only right to take it out and shoot some targets, varmints,
deer, and other various game JUST to make sure when he's old enough,
you can teach him how to use it properly!!  ;) ;)

Congrats!

Mike

I know I waited a long time.  I have another son due in February and I'm tinking about buying another one for him.  I guess a little early never hurts.

When I figure out how to post pic's, I will post his first hunt.

Never too early to take them shooting with you.  Just remember the hearing protection.  Even though they are not doing the shooting, it will still damage their hearing.

Hunh, what did he say????? :-\ I'm a perfect example of that, my dad taught me nothing about hearing protection, he just didn't know, it took me a long time to finally learn about it, but too late unfortunately, I have tinnitus real bad, can't hear my own watch alarm. :'(

Ditto, what Tim said.

The wife started our son shooting with a .22RF Chipmunk when he was five.  At 7 she commandeered my Contender, put a youth stock on it with a .22RF barrel and he shot that till she got him an Anschautz for his 12th birthday.  That spring I gave him his first Handi, a .243.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
