Smith & Wesson I Bolt
« on: October 18, 2008, 06:14:35 PM »
Today I picked up a new 25-06 S&W I bolt rifle at GI Joes Sporting Goods in WA state.  I just could not pass it up, $299.00 with a $50.00 rebate.  I have looked it over, the action and barrel look good, the action has a very long travel, but works well, it has three locking lugs so the bolt throw is good, and the trigger is adjustable and seems real nice to me.  The stock is kind of cheap, kind of like the Savage plastic, but the price is good and it even includes a scope base.  Anyone else have one of these?  I am thinking of making some sort of wildcat on it, I have a use for the 25 cal take off barrel, I was thinking of a 5X57 for a hot 20 cal.  If you have shot one let me know your experiences.  Larry

Wow, I didn't know I bolts were in that price range. I just assumed a premium price. I'd like to hear other opinions on the I bolt.

they started out over $500 and no one bought any and so they are selling at ridiculously low prices. i think they may be getting discontinued.

I've looked at them and liked what I saw, but I was waiting for the all-weather finish to come out. Guess maybe it never will?

They were also supposed to be coming out in magnum calibers.

I know the rebate is on until the end of the year.

The prices are pretty hot right now, I'm thinking of taking the plunge on one too.  I bet they will drop them, after all, when they acquired T/C, they got the Icon too.  That's where all of the advertising $$ is going.....has anyone seen an ad for an I-Bolt other than in a hunting magazine?  I haven't.
