300 RUM for Moose/Bear?
« on: August 31, 2007, 09:30:46 PM »
First, I would like to say that I am new to this site, but I think it is great all the input everyone has. It has been very helpful to me! My question is does anyone have any experience using the 300 Remington Ultra Mag on Big Game ex. Moose or Bear? And if so what kind of bullets and loads are you using?

The answer to my originally posted question is the 300 Remington Ultra Mag is a great choice for large game. After recently returning from Canada and being successful, the 300 RUM was successful at harvesting a large moose and a (true weight) 400lb. black bear. I was using a 200grain Nosler Partition Bullet and it left a hole in the moose that was approximately 5 inches in diameter. Both animals expired very quickly. Hope this helps anyone considering the 300 RUM for big game.

Only premium bullets should be used for the 300 RUM if you are reloading it to its fullest potential.

I know Remington has 3 differant power levels for their 300 RUM ammo.
