Sights on 45/70 22" Handi
« on: October 09, 2008, 06:05:04 PM »
I'm about to send away my receiver and have them fit a 22" 45/70 barrel on, but I was wondering about the sights. How are they? Are there any aftermarket options? Thanks.

I like the factory sights on my .45-70, ( I am a big iron sight fan) Good enuff to take a nice buck at 175 yards give or take a couple.

And yes there are after market sights available, two peeps from Williams along with fire sight fronts if you like those, Williams also makes several diffrent blade types that will fit.

The factory scope rail is also there if you want to put glass on it.

All thease use factory holes so its no problem to fit one out to your taste.

Current production, unless Remington changes it ???, use the Williams WGRS barrel sight, as BNB stated, the WGRS and FP, FP/TK aperture sights are also available from H&R and other retailers. Marbles also makes a very nice aperture sight, all of these are shown in the FAQs and Help sticky along with Williams Firesight front sights, spend some time there, it will be time well spent.  ;)

Use Control F to search the FAQs, it'll find it if it's there, I have to use it all the time, I can't remember what all's in there and I created  a good share of what's in there!!  :o ;)

Tim, it's wonderful getting old.  It's called CRS, I have it, increasingly.......What's your name, sonny??? :'( :'(  It's getting so I can't remember what is zero climbing and dropping for a particular load, and what the drop is at given yardage.  I have to record it all, print it and stick it on the Handis stock in case I need it......Now that is old :'( :'( :'( :'(  When people ask, I just say It's because I have too many guns." :D ;D :D ;D
