The MR-7 was Marlin's attempt at combining the favored features of the most popular bolt action guns. It's got the safety and trigger mechanism of a Winchester Model 70, the bolt handle of a Ruger 77, the magazine of a Browning A-Bolt, and the bolt face and lock-up of the Remington 700.
It's a great gun that for some reason just didn't take off. I have a friend that's got a 30-06, and it's one of the best shooting, most consistent 30-06 rifles that I've shot. It's not the most accurate I've fired, but if the groups aren't too good, it's not the gun. It shoots just about anything we've tried into 1.5" or less, which was actually the guarantee from the factory.
It's not a lightweight, but it's like the average Winchester/Remington, about 7.5-8lbs before scoping it. If the price it right, I'd pick up in a heartbeat.
