Limbsaver barrel de-resonator on a 308 Bull Barrel?
« on: September 29, 2008, 09:13:18 AM »
Anyone tried these out on a NEF?  I have a 308 bull barrel and was wondering if I should buy one to try out to improve accuracely or are they just hype?  Anyone?
If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to serve as a horrible warning.

Yup, I've tried the standard size on a couple barrels that were shooting 1" groups, didn't improve them, but didn't hurt either. Mac11700 tried one on a Weatherby 270, it cut group size from 1¾" to ¾" with factory ammo and no other changes, they may or may not work, just depends on the barrel, they're just a poor man's tuner that works similar to the BOSS . My gripe at the time was they didn't fit bull barrels well, a real bear to get off, but they've since made a large size which I have had for about a year, but haven't tried it yet. Just another tool in the shooting box, I've spent a lot more that the $13 I spent for it and got a lot less benefit.

I've got one on my .308 Survivor.  I'm not sure if it helps accuracy all that much but it makes a good contact point when leaning the gun against a limb...  BTW, I am under 1" at 100 yards.  Never shot the gun without the limbsaver...
