Interior Parts of a F.A. ?

  Is the inside of a FA like a S.A.A. Colt or more like a Ruger. Flat or Coil Manspring?  Does anyone take theirs apart occasionally for detailed cleaning?  I am proficient in taking apart, and reassembling S&W double actions but have never tackeled a single action.

It's a combination of both Colt and Ruger.  Some of the better points of each.  They are not hard to come apart, but can be a bear to put back together due to the two springs held in place by the grip frame.  Once you have had one apart a few times, it is much easier.  If you are not completely comfortable taking a Ruger single action apart, do not attempt the FA.

There is an article in a back issue of the Five Shot Journal that goes into detail on detail stripping the FA 83 and 97 ... it is by somebody named Paco (not Paco Kelly).   You could get the back issue from the FACA ... but, there is not much reason to detail strip an FA other than curiosity.  If anything beyond the bolt/trigger spring is broken, the factory will probably need to fix it.  If something gets into the action, pull the grips off and flush it out with gunscrubber or something similar.
