new guy here
« on: November 25, 2008, 03:46:10 AM »
i'm new here..longtime fan of Ruger single actions...my first was a stainless single six(still own it)..then a 6 1/2" 357 Blackhawk(sold it)..then a 5 1/2 " Bisley Vaquero 45 Colt....then a 4 5/8 " Blackhawk convertible 45......then i disassembled the Vaquero and the Blackhawk convertible, switched out the hammers, triggers and grip frames and after some cussin' and such voila, i now have a Bisley 45 convertible with a 4 5/8 barrel(blued) and it is absolutely not for sale, trafe,or otherwise...went shootin the other day, stuffed 8 grains 231 and some 200gr 45acp semi wadcutters(cuz i had em) in 45 Colt cases, crimped them with the 45 ACP taper crimp die, shot 10 of them offhand at 50 yds and put 9 of them in the black on a 6 inch target....it's great to be here

Welcome Zoner....Rugers are great revolvers.

How much fitting did you have to do to switch the hammers triggers, and grip frames on those Rugers?
Was timing an issue at all?  Wondered about doing something like this myself.

mine went together pretty easy...seemed like the hammer fit a little tight(width) at full cock but minor fitting made that right
