howa 1500 synthetic stock surprise!!

 After recently buying a howa 243 1500 in 243 with a synthetic stock (againsed my will couldnt find a wood stock one and wanted the howa) i chiped it againsed my ammo can i noticed it was a wood stock but you could'nt tell at first honestly felt like a syn stock, i sanded it down put two coats of stain 3 coats of poly and she looks great, alot more handsom. Has anyone else done this? If you own one look into it if its your thing just figured id throw this out there!

Was it a new gun, or a used one?  I know that the new Youth/Lightweight model has a wood stock that's epoxy painted black.

Oh and it is a youth model. Is the full size one any different stock wise? Im short so the youth models work better for me but hey i cant stand tall with the best of the shooters, so to speak  ;).

The stocks on the full size gun are totally different than the youth model.  The black ones are actually a synthetic stock, not painted wood.  Go to Legacy Sports website, they are the importers/distributors for Howa, and you can see the different models.

 Oh ok I wasnt sure but i will check it out, you know i thought for a youth rifle it was a bit heavy but i cant complain everything on it is very well machined metal, ill take a pound or so more for a good quality rifle!!
