Quick Release Rings?
« on: June 13, 2008, 10:59:40 AM »
Does anybody use these for their handguns?  I was thinking of putting one on my new .44 mag.  If so, what type do people use.

Thanks,

Mark

I use the Leupold QR on several Win. Mdl 70's and the Leupold QR-W on a Marlin Guide Gun, but the levers have always struck me as an unnecessary widget, sticking out there on handguns, so I have never used either  on handguns. On Rugers, the standard rings work well with a (nearly ?) perfect return to zero.

Like these?

I had to modify the rings to work with the JDJones TSOB base and modify again so I could use the factory sights.
It works well now either way.

they probably do a good job on your revolver, the only thing i might be concernd with is how top heavy they make your sidearm.dan

I use a set on one of my Lone Eagles. I think there is a good chance of them catching on a holster when used on a revolver. I geuss they could on my Lone Eagle but I do not use a Holster with it.

Those look like QD not QR, the QR have the posts that go into the bases. A lot of people get the Quick disconnect mixed up with the quick release.

Leupold calls that style QR-W for Quick RELEASE -Weaver. The style that has a post that goes into the base are called simply "QR", obviously for Quick Release.
Broomrider, I saw your photo(s) on the double action thread and was about to refer him to them, but you beat me to it. Quick response for someone who's 5 ft. 14 in.

Do the QD rings use a weaver base/picatanany(sp) rail? How about the QR rings, what base do they use?

The QD rings use Weaver and Picatanany rails and the QR rings use a special base from Leupold.

OR?? Are you talking QR here? If so, please post a pic of the base for QRs?

I only have one set and it is on my 45cal ML that I am not going to re-zero. Here is a stock picture off of the internet. These are the QR's and sorry about my mistake in the original post.

Thanks. Why not rezero? Would you like to try a different mount and rings?

I spend a bunch of time and money getting my load right and now its shooting MOA at 100 yards. If it were one of my other ML's with cheap rings that I am going to replace I would but not this one. It would be wasted money the way I see it.
