Body Die "?" or a small base die???

Gents,

I need some info on body dies.  I have a 338-06.  I suspect the full length die is not squeezing the body (web area to the case head) down enough to make the cases fit in my tight chamber properly.  Once fired reloads chamber some what difficult...

Will a standard body die do anything a full length die doesn't?  Another question is, could I use a 30-06 small base die or would that change the neck back to 30-06?

i've really never used one, but i assume a body die only touches the case body and not the neck. just as a neck size die would size only the neck. i would tend to think that a small base 06 die would work. contact redding and have them give you your options. i'm sure they would help you out.  they are just an email away. reckon, if you sent them a couple cases, they could make a size die special for your gun? like i said before, i sent them some cases and my 6br full length size die, and they hand picked one with closer tolerances for replacement.
