why not mag or clip locks
« on: June 21, 2008, 10:32:53 AM »
i recently bought my cz542 and got exactly what i was after an truely 100 yds accurrate 22..but the same thing happened as did the only other time i used an[ we called it clip] fed 22. it got lost out of the gun while it was in use somewhere.
wish i knew where.. but i do know when my new mag comes in im going to find a way to attach it to the gun .. i would say lock it in but i suspect i may have just over looked it last time i was out..so look bedang im thinking it be better to have it fastened on to the gun with a real strong grade of string or something.. any idea other than don t be so absent minded appreciated .. i hit my self with that one enough..
at one time i had myself trained  to keep my mind on task until whatever i was doing was finished ... but you know i offended several good friends in those days as id look right past them as if i didn t know them..most i cleared up but i still have a cousin that aint buying it, and she hasn t spoken to me in 25 yrs.. she was just about my favorite girl cousin . she still thinks i snubbed her .. ive never snubbed anyone unless
they had stolen from me or something like that .. then only if it was an sure proven thing .. sorry to go on .. but if anyone has any ideas id appreciate hearing them ..slim
ps love my cz ,thanks for the advice to get it and other guns also .it worked out great.

Hmmm I cannot see how you managed this feat, but clearly you did  ??? the mag release is quite small and recessed so perhaps you need your-think you method of carry. My Brno Model 2 has the original magazine in it after 43 years. It's the five shot one that sits almost flush with the stock, I do have a ten round one as well that I brought but don't seem to use it much.

May I suggest a length of strong fishing line to secure it, finer than string or cord yet stronger, sea fishing line ro big game line should do and I would suggest 30+lbs breaking strain.

You should have ordered two new ones.  Then you would have found the one that is missing.  I have several spare clips or whatever for my 10/22 but there is always one in the rifle (loaded but no round in the chamber) with the loaded spares at hand.  If I am transporting the rifle, the clip is in my pocket.

as expected ,i found it.. id pulled it from its gun cover ,,which usually means pulling it back and out .. as i did this it flipped out into the tools etc in the rear of my truck bed..
i still think its an loss waiting to happen when moving fast in the woods or in difficult terrain..brithunter ,thanks for the idea of fishing line, but  cord used for laying off
structures in the building trade is remarkably strong and durable..fish line is a good second best tho..
you are one of the people i ll always envy, a bit. never in too much of an hurry and apparrently very organized. to have never lost a mag. in 43 yrs is remarkable.. at least to me..
beemanbeme,, your idea is the one ill use as i already keep my exstra pistol mags in my shooting bag...i usually keep exstra magsfor my guns .. i think i ll prefer the 5 over the 10 mag also ...i still may find what i think is a suitable way of attaching the mag to the gun so they are always togather,as i think its an good idea ,if done right..
i think my experience in losing my dads clip as a boy caused this to bring back bad memories..thanks again for the suggestions..

Sorry but I have confused you, I have personally owned the Model 2 for about 8 years, However I must admit that as yet have never lost a magazine, dropepd them from my pocket but never from the gun and I wa slucky enough to find the one I dropped. On the BSA Supe Sport Five rifles I have the magazines are like Gold dust rare and expensive so I have to take special care not to lose them.

Glad you found yours  ;D.
