A couple weeks ago I bought a Rem. 700 Classic (mfg. in 2000) and I am loving this rifle! It came, unfired, with Leupold base and rings. I put a Leupold Rifleman 2-7X33 scope on it and threw together some loads using a 55 gr. Sierra SP and BL-C(2). I followed a barrel break-in procedure for the first 20 rounds and as of today have still only fired 33 rounds through it.
Here's the joke on me from today's range session. After eight rounds and some scope tweeking I decided, "One more 3-shot group and I'm done." In the 7X scope I could see the three shots formed a lopsided figure eight. Others were still shooting so I got into a conversation. Maybe 20 minutes later I thought, "What the heck, let's see if I can stick two more in there for a real 5-shot braggin' group."

When I measured the target the first three shots were 0.276" CTC. Shot #4, after the long delay, took the group out to 1.256" and #5 sneaked in between.

BTW the first three shots today went 0.886".
Oh well, it's obvious this little rifle has potential and the romance has begun. I am going to be shooting a bunch of .223 as time goes on!
