I'm amazed!
« on: May 15, 2008, 11:57:46 AM »
I ordered a new scope for my Stainless Handi  '06.  It should be here tomorrow.  I took the old scope off, which was on paper, but not shooting well, and put it on my 7mm-08 Handi which needed one.  I clamped it down on the rail and put up a piece of scrap siding about 2 X 3 feet and set it out at about 50 - 60 yards just to begin sighting in.  There was no visible feature on the board to shoot at so I propped up a foot long piece of 2 x 4 with a dark, prominent knot to shoot at.  Bang!  The knot was gone.  I, the idiot, had left two fresh hens eggs out on the shooting bench for two frosty nights and two warm days.  I set them out at the 60 yards.  Bang!, Bang!  Found one scrap of egg shell.  Bang again, Klang.  The 300 yard gong.  Yeah, I have to put it on the rest and bags and dial in for sure, but I never had a rifle sighted in for 300 yards on four rounds.
Keep both eyes open and make the first shot good.

Take it over-easy Petemi.  The rest of us will have to scramble to become a crack shot like you.  Sorry!

I wish I were a crack shot, but I'm just an old crack doing the best I can with what I've got.........for my money, the best value in firearms.......Handis!!!  Amen.  Now that I think about it, They all do that, with the exception of my SS 30-06, and that is only because I haven't had enough work with it.  I know we'll get it together and she'll be right up there too.

I just love it when they want to please so much. ;D  The 44 mag Handi was like that only with out a scope.  I couldn't believe how good I was shooting with open sights. :o  Sure makes it easy to make room in bed, I mean the gun safe for one like that. :D DP.

Mine aren't in bed with me....yet.  But my Handi .357 and Blackhawk .357 are in reach from my pillow.  Patty, on her side of the bed has her favorites.  Household intruders  "Y'all Come".
