Can anyone give me any practical insight as to which reticle to choose in
a Bushnell Elite 3200. As I recall there is the low light, fast focus, fire fly and regular reticle. I am going to be mounting it on a 30-06 rifle to be used on eastern whitetails in both wooded and open areas.

I personally would go with the Multi-X Reticle (Regular). If you are going to hunt in open areas and have the potential for a longer shot, I think the regular multi-X would give you better view of your target at longer distances, without the reticle blocking part of the animal.

I agree. I can also tell you that I am not a fan of Bushnell's 3-2-1 reticle because the outside posts are much thicker than usual.

The fast focus models have to do with the type of focus on the rear bell and nothing to do with the recticle. The low light or 321 has three different thickness'. The firefly has a coating much like the hands on a watch that glow in darkness and is a 321 type too. The regular recticle is a plex type and more of a general use type. I'm not a fan of the fast focus type set up. When I get my scopes focused I want them to stay where I set them. Dave
