Fiochis come in boxes of 10 and I have gotten cheap federal slugs in boxes of 15.  Can you imagine what a box of 25 remington accutips would cost? It would be almost $100 after sales tax.

I think originally they came in boxes of 5 back before the way overpriced slugs came out because they were never viewed as something you would go out to the range and shoot for accuracy.  Back in the olden days, they were considered close range and were shot out of smooth bore shotguns with bead sights.  That would be my guess, at least.

I spent over $200 last spring gearing up for finding what my new gun's liked this fall past.. I believe that is because of sticker shock myself.. And imagine buying a box of 25 @$3 each..And then find your new  shooting iron dont like them... Drop

Just be glad they do come in boxes of 5, having to buy multiple 25 round boxes to find a load that worked good would require a second mortgage!! :o I'd like to see multi-paks with an assortment of loads, would be great for turkey loads too, they come either 5 or 10 to a box.

I think it's because most guns used to hold five rounds.
RIP Mike. Died on July 14th, around 2am, with his family at his side, he went peacefully to be with god.
