Extractor question
« on: February 08, 2008, 07:42:35 AM »
I've got a project that I'm working on and need to know if H&R is putting extractors instead of ejectors in their 22 magnums.
Also if they are using extractors, will the rimfire extractor fit in a centerfire barrel?
Thanks!

I wasn't thinking when I posted this. I went to the H&R web site and checked the rimfires and they are showing to be ejectors.

No one has reported an extractor rimfire or shotgun.....yet! Rimfire ejectors have narrower posts at the top than centerfire, the notch in the barrel and the post has a rounded shoulder instead of the straight notch in centerfire barrels, but the rimfire ejector should work in a centerfire barrel, not the reverse tho. Larry has worked with the rimfire so he should be able to give you a difinitive answer.

Tim, would an ejector from the rimfire work in an extractor model centerfire barrel?
I know it wouldn't be an ejector if it fit but would the part work as an extractor?

Thanks!

If the post was modified to the correct height to catch the rim and a spring or spacer is installed to account for the shorter ejector length, it could work, see the extractor to ejector conversion in the FAQs for more info. ;)
