Red dot for 10/22
« on: March 20, 2008, 12:41:02 PM »
Just bought a 10/22 and am debating putting a scope or red dot on it. My old eyes are not agreeing with the open sights.
I would like a fast target acquisition and fear that a scope will not give it to me.

Would  anyone care to suggest a moderately priced red dot

Any suggestions either way would be appreciated

I have a Tasco Pro-Point on one of mine  , 5 minute dot .  I use mine for hunting and it is very fast to get on target , quite easy to see even in bright daylight . I think  I paid $ 85.00 for it new ( 5 years back ) .  Good battery life , accurate and dependable !

Propoint is a great choice. So is the busnell trophy. I've also heard good things about the Millet's.

Stay far, far away from the cheap BSA's out there. I haven't handled one that didn't have TERRIBLE parralax issues, and the dots are far from round.

Realize most dots are 4+ MOA, so at 25yds that dot is covering an inch or more of the target.
You might want to look at some lower power fixed scopes--- 2x up to 4x.
I have several 2.5x old weavers that I really love. I have a few cheap 4x bushnells and simmons on rimfires that are quick to get on target as well.

I have had one of the BSA Red Dots, from WalMart, on my 10/22 for the past couple years and could not be happier.  For $30.00 you could not ask for more.  I shoot mostly at an indoor range which is 15 yards max.  This scope along with Remington bulk 22 Long Rifle, also from WalMart, shoot to point of aim and are very reliable.  However, I put one of these scopes on a 44 Magnum and it lasted three shots before the internal optics shattered turning it into a maraca!

i have a red dot on my 30 30.. its gonna put the rnd where the dot is on a deer..
but for a 10 22 i thought that was suppose to be a real accurate littl group rifle..
id rather have a scope for that..never owned a 10 22 but i wouldn t put it on mine..
