F-150 Good truck

MY old truck's an F-150 Ford, one good old truck 1995 inline 300-6cyl. with a 5 spd. trans. I really like this truck, it has served me well. I guess compared to all the much newer trucks this one would seem very stripped down, but she's all truck far as half tons go. Its an XL so not much in the way of fancy stuff. No head liner or carpet, seats a little beat up, ya have to reach down an pull the transfer case lever into gear while you hold in the clutch, and thats after you turn the manual lockout hubs in to get it into 4 wheel drive. Has stiff suspension so it rides about like an empty lumber wagon. But man it is one good truck!...Fact is some years back I had an even better truck than this. Maybe tell ya about that one sometime. We just replaced our farm's small truck. It was a 1978 F350 , it had the 300 I6 with the 4sp tranny with granny gear.
That truck owed us nothing, the frame rusted out but that motor still ran good

I had a f-150 with a 4.9 liter inline six. Ran great, really good truck but I ended up selling it after putting three slave cylinders in the hydraulic clutch. Why they went from a simple mechanical clutch to that over engineered hydraulic clutch I'll never know. I guess it was so women could drive trucks too.

I've got a '95 XL 4.9L/5spd 4x4 as well...great truck. Torquey as heck. It's mostly a hunting rig, but spends plenty of time hauling 3 snowmobiles all winter long....I love this old inline six!!!
The suspension on mine is pretty soft, and I get some good axle wraps on hard shifts (especially when towing) but it'll out pull any 5.0L V8 I've come across.

My fiance has a '94 2wd 4.9L/Auto with 180,000 miles and still going. It's a little down on power with the auto, and it's an abused farm truck, but it just keeps ticking....though I hope she retires it soon!!!!

There are still some nice ones out there floating around with under 100,000 miles on 'em if you look around---really clean ones selling for $3,000-3,500. They really make GREAT hunting rigs. The vinyl floors and lack of fancy headliners make's them easy to clean. Tough and dependable rigs...

  Those old inline 6's seemed like the could go forever. I had a 2000 F150 4x4 with the 5.4L in it. I absolutely loved that truck. I finally traded it in, as it got salt water in the transmission from Hurricane Katrina. I did not know how high the water got until I saw a picture after my insurance company wrote me a check for the exterior damage from flying shigles and other things that hit it. I finally got to drive it on the interstate to go and see my family that had evacuated to AR for the hurricane, when the tranny started acting up. I would still own that truck had it not been for Katrina.

Hey Hogfan, sorry to hear that. That was one awful wicked storm. Glad you and your family made it outa there safe! pickups can always be replaced. If you're a fan of the old inline 6 my guess is there's still a bunch of old fords around with the 300 inline. It'll take you some lookin around but you can find them. I had a 93 F150 Xl, very stripped down, with the 300 six and an AM radio. I t was a GREAT 4x4, so reliable, NO frills. Had some custom graphics put on and it looked great. Bought it new for 14k.

Yeah Man! I love these old Ford trucks! I also had a 79 F-150 ranger with a 351M and 4 spd. And before this 95 F-150 I owned a 90 Bronco-II that was a dandy little truck. It had 2.9 liter V6 and 5spd trans. like to still have that one. That I remember it would get near 27 mi. to a gallon gas that would be a big plus right now. My 95 gets about 18 miles to a gallon, this now is all with easy driven. I'm starting a seach for an older Ford Ranger pickup one of the smaller trucks about like how my Bronco-II was. This is for my son, hopefully I'll find one with a 2.9 or 3.0 V6. Anyway,....Any of you folks interested in the Fords here's a good web site, www.fordtrucks.com lots of good stuff there, check out the gallery old trucks in there from 1930's to present.
