is there any good data on reloading this cartridge.smokeless is what i want to try.

Actually, I believe it's a .56-50.

Note that there's an article in Feb08 G&A about (mostly) the 1865 carbine, both original and reproduction.

Ten-x has ammunition. Smokeless is $120/50 rds - BP substitute is $5 more.

Google is your friend.

Starline has cases at about a buck each.

BP or substitute would be dead easy; a quick look did not show any smokeless data for it but you might find something with a detailed search.

Starline brass, Lyman dies, fairly soft lead bullet of about 350 grains and some XMP-5744 will fit your pistol if you are shooting an ArmiSport repro. I can't tell you what a safe load is though. That's why you can never go wrong with the original propellant -- a case full of BP.
