Faster With different bullets depending on what Barrel Length , you need a 28 - 30 "  barrel to get the speed.
Go over to Long Range Hunting .com there are plenty of shooters  that shoot this  Cartridge. Ask   Kirby Allen  he Builds these all the Time  , He has his own  Cartridge .257 Allen Mag that is faster.

If I were doing one I'd go with the 6.5mm version. Way more good quality long range bullets available in that size, and otherwise very similar. I think Berger just started making VLD bullets in 25 cal, but I don't know of any other makers. Everybody makes sleek 6.5 bullets. And as the other poster said, go with the longest barrel you can get your hands on. Recently I've been using Brux palma barrels for several rifles and have been very impressed with them. Quick turnaround, reasonable price, and super accurate. I used to be strictly a Kreiger fan, but they are only 28" long and for something like this you want all you can get. Build it as a single shot, throated to put the base of the bearing surface at the neck/shoulder junction. Feed it something that burns about as fast as shredded newspaper, like that new US86 powder from Hodgdon, and use a good 140gr. or so match bullet. You'll be amazed at how flat it is way on out there, 1000 yds plus.
