i can valch for the 120 gr. nosler partition as a big game bullet loaded in the .257 roberts .
it would be nice to see some 140 gr. bullets for loads in 25/06 , .257 weatherby .

it would be great if remington would make a run of there old 60gr. hollowpoint " mushroom" bullets again in .25 caliber.
those were great bullets in the 25/20 and would be fun to play with in some of the bigger .25 caliber guns .

doesn't look like remington is going to add a .257 ultramag to the ultramag line up , so i better just start looking for a .257 weatherby.

i have recently added a .25 remington pump gun , nice little model 14r carbine . haven't got to shoot it yet .

I'd like to see someone come out with modernized . 25 stevens rimfire , about the size of a .22 magnum , only .25 caliber .
original loads had 65-67 gr. bullets at about 1200 mv. and 210 ft/pds .  with modern technology i bet the velocity could be cranked up to 1600-1800 .  it would be a great small game and varmint round .

What I'm looking for is a bullet to replace the Berger 110 grain MEF (Maximum Expansion Factor) bullets that they stopped making. I want a THIN skinned bullet that blows up on impact, like a varmint grenade or tnt type bullet. I use my 25 wssm for prarie dogs, and I want something that blows them up at 500-600 yards, and won't have to worry about ricochets. My gun really loves those MEF Bergers....sigh.

There are plenty of great big game bullets to choose from, my personal favorite is the 115 gr ballistic tips in my roberts and wby mag.  I used to use the old Barnes 90 gr X bullets on small deer and coyotes too in my roberts before I had it blown out to ackley. I like the 75 gr vmax for close range coyotes, wish they made the vmax in a 110-120 gr version. I may just use this as an "excuse" to rebarrel my 25 wssm to 6.5...

i have seen what a 257 weatherby loaded with 120 gn. partitions does to a elks shoulder. took it out and put a nice 6X7 bull down . i have the ultra light weight and it recoils about the 270. it will turn a deer inside out. i do reload for it so i can afford to shoot it,

Mine is a Ruger M77 MKII in 25-06. Got it from a co-worker a few years back who needed some money. Part of a package deal with another rifle and some reloading supplies. Total for the deal was $600. I figure the 25-06 was about $250 to $275. Not bad at all. All the reloading supplies were for the 25-06. I sold the other rifle awhile later(a Savage 10FP 223).

I have a 25 06 in a Handi rifle and just recently bought an upper for my AR15 chambered in 25 WSSM. The first three shot group measured 9/16". I shot another five shot group that measured 1 1/16". I am pleased with the 25 WSSM and will be working on some handloads later in the year.

I have a Sendero in 25-06AI That was rechambered/tuned by Kirby Allen in MT. & it is a real performer. The last time I used it on Mule Deer & Antelope I used the VERY High BC 125 Wildcat @ 3,250 & it kicked butt. The big 25's have never let me down!!  ;)

Taken a lot of whitetails with a 25-06.  A gunsmith friend of mine built a 25 STW.  I took him on a doe hunt and he shot two does using Berger bullets, and neither were killed instantly.  Probably should have used a 120 grain hunting bullet with that much velocity.

I have a Ruger Number 1b  in .257 Roberts.  It shoots great if the barrel doesn't get hot (under 2 inches at 200 yds) with Hornady interlocks weighing 100 grs. at 3000 FPS. (15 feet from muzzle that is).  I really like shooting it. just not carrying it! Got to weigh 10 lbs with scope. but little recoil!

Several years ago I had a 1891 Argentine mauser rebarreled to 257 Roberts when I retired and started shooting/reloading again, something I had not done since being a teenager.  I only shoot at paper and absolutely love to shoot my .257, both for its light recoil and accuracy.

i'm a die-hard .25 addict...

in contender barrels i have 13 different tubes in .25 cal, some pistol, some rifle, calibers include 25/20, .25/35, .25x221, .257TCU, .25 Classic,.25 Bullberry ,  .25x30/30 ackley improved, and .257JDJ.

in rifles i also shoot a winchester 70 Fwt in .250 Savage, and a Rem 700 Sendero stainless fluted in 25/06, and a stainless model 70 Fwt in .25WSSM.

got a winchester 70 being turned turned into a .257STW at the moment too.

guess you could say i'm hooked. i do a lot of deer hunting, and some predator shooting, and the .25's work well for me. im in oklahoma & we dont have gigantic deer, & the .25's have been more than adequate. killed a 200 pound hog last month with 1 shot from a 25/35 carbine using 117 grain winchester factory loads.

the various 75 grain loads have really whacked yotes & bobcats for me...nice thing with those .25's, plenty of versatility, low recoil, good accuracy....

I have a .25-06 that I hunt whitetail deer and pronghorn antelope with.  This cartridge is ideal for these two species, and I would say there is none better.  This doesn't mean there aren't some equal -- perhaps the .257 Weatherby Magnum, perhaps the .243 Winchester -- but none that put the .25-06 in the shade.

I have a .257 JDJ. I've long toyed with the idea of others but have just never made it happen. The ones I think I could learn to like are the .25-20 and the .257 AI. I did long ago have a couple of .25-06s and I did like them but the .257 AI will almost equal it and for some reason just appeals to me more. I have a Browning Low Wall .22 Hornet that some day will almost assuredly become a .25 of some flavor. Just gotta figure out what and find the money for such a project.

Oh please do go the 257 AI I did one on a Winchester Feather weight and all I can tell you it shoots everything into nice little groups, quit amazing!  The load I used to fire form the brass ended up giving me <.75 of an inch at 100 yds., quite amazing.

Several years ago I rebarreled a 243 Savage Serria to the BOB, has taken several mulies and white tails.  Got another Roberts in a Ruger MII that I have just sighted in.  Then deceided to get a 257 Weatherby in a Vanguard as I wanted one for a long time.  Mounted a Ziess 3-9 on it and haven't even sighted it in yet.  Last one is a Handi rifle in 25-06 with laminated stocks.  Put some rounds thru it but not happy with how the scope is mounted, so will have to swap scopes around.  Like the 3 I've used, not sure I needed any thing more than the 2 Roberts and some good handloads, but when did need have anything to do with it! ;D  DP.

I started with a Savage Sierra in 243 that I rebarreled with a 257 Rob. and still have that one, plan on giving it to one of the boys.  Next was a Ruger MII in 257 Rob. and that has a very light trigger, will go to another boy.  Like them both and both have taken some mulies.  Then fulfilled the dream of a 257 Weatherby in a Vanguard.  Put a Ziess 3X9 on it and still haven't fired it!  The last is a Handi Ultra in 25-06.  Hadn't really seen a need for a 25-06 with the 2-257 Bob's around, but for the price and the fact I now have 15 of the Handi frames, I couldn't pass it up.  Yes, Handi fever is real!  Gotta get out with the Weatherby and see what she will do.  My 2nd Father-in-law had one, the "real" one not the Vanguard, and I shot it a few times and that put that bug in me.  Course, if it goes bang, I like it. ;D  DP.

Used to have a 722 in .257R someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse.   Now it's just a Sav 99 in 25-35, Sav 99 TD 250-3000, and a Sav 11 rebarrelled to 25-204Ruger(.25x 47 Improved 30 degree).  For deer hunting I think 25's are one of the better light callibers.
